Objectives
By the end of this week you will have:
- read articles and listened to recordings about modernism and modernist architecture:
- its history
- main charactristics
- names given to modernism in different countries
- learned about 3 modernist architects in Barcelona, Spain
- characteristics of their work
- practiced vocabulary and content related to modernism through interactive exercises
- created an interactive exercise about modernism (or one of the architects mentioned and his work)
- completed at least 2 exercises prepared by classmates
Activities
Monday & Wednesday
1. Create a new page on your wiki. Name it: Modernism
1. Go to the Modernism page and go through the resources availabe and find the answer to the following questions:
- What is modernism?
- What is it called in different countries?
- When did it start and why?
- What are its main characteristics?
2. Write the answers in your Modernism page.
3. Do the previewing/listening interactive exercises
4. Watch the video about Modernism in Barcelona or read the text and listen to the recording.
6. Do the Post-viewing/listening interactive activities
7. Get together with a classmate, and create an interactive exercise with the content: Modernism / Modernism in Barcelona. The purpose of the quiz is to test or review your knowledge.
- You can select any of these applications:

| a. Check the applications to see the kinds of questions you can create b. then, you can meet in a chat to discuss what content you want to evaluate or review c. For both sites, you need to register - It´s free d. This will be considered your quiz for unit 2. The creation of the quiz will be worth 6 points, and completing 3 of the exercises prepared by your classmates, will be worth 6 points (2 p/each) e. Once your classmates have completed the exercises you created, go to the application where you created the quiz and take a screenshot of the names of the classmates who completed it. f. Post your screenshot to this forum in Moodle |
8. If you need more information about modernism and the architects in Barcelons, read the articles provided
9. Post the link to your exercise to your Modernism page, and to this wiki in Moodle
10. Complete 2 exercises created by classmates, and give them feedback on the exercises
11. Add new words to the glossary in Moodle.
